Four new sets of portable bleachers will be at the Western Nova Scotia Exhibition this year.
The federal and provincial governments contributed to the funding, with the feds granting over $73,000 and the province giving $20,000.
The Yarmouth Agricultural Society, which runs the exhibition provided over $53,000 toward the project.
West Nova MP Colin Fraser says the hydraulic bleachers will benefit the whole community.
“It’s wonderful for our whole area to have these. I’m looking forward to more events as a result of these bleachers.”
Society President Mark Firth tells us how the bleachers will be used.
“We’re going to use them at our exhibition, but during the rest of the year they will be available for use at other events. Our intent is to tow them and set them up, and they’ll be ready to go.”
Firth says community groups can rent the bleachers from the society.
Each set will be able to seat 200 people.
The bleachers were on display at the Yarmouth Airport today as West Nova MP Colin Fraser and Yarmouth MLA Zach Churchill made the announcement.
