*The Yarmouth Nova’s Finest Bantam A Mariners played the best 2 of 3 playoff series against the South Shore Lumberjacks over the weekend.
On Saturday they traveled to Lunenburg for game 1 and won 7-1.
Game 2 was Sunday morning in Yarmouth with the Lumberjacks winning in a shoot out.
The deciding game was Saturday evening and the Mariners won 3-0 to take the series and eliminate the Lumberjacks.
The Mariners will now face West Hants this coming weekend.
*Saturday saw the Yarmouth GPK Refrigeration PeeWee A Mariners come away with a 2 – 1 win over the Clare / Digby Ravens clinching the first round of the Hockey Nova Scotia provincial playdowns.
Mariners’ goals were scored by Alyre Richardson (assisted by Drew Muise and Damien Cottreau) and Blake Newell (assisted by Conner Pother and Ben Lyons).
Scoring for the Ravens was Jean-Luc Comeau, unassisted.
The Mariners will be facing the Acadia Axemen in the next round of the provincial playdowns.
*The Charlesville Fisheries Peewee B mariners played Western Valley on Saturday for game 2 & 3 of the playoffs. In net for both games was Miguel Surette.
Game 2 Western Valley defeated Yarmouth 5-3. Scoring for the Mariners was Jack D’entremont, Brody Smith and Blake Fish, Brody Smith had two assists.
Game 3 the Mariners defeated Western Valley 4-0 to move on to the second round of the playoffs. Scoring for the Mariners was Caleum Hines with 2 goals, Blake Fish and Jack D’entremont each with 1. Assists for the game go to Luke Leblanc with 2, Charlie Gosling, Gabriel Hideib and Maddox D’entremont with 1 each.
The Mariners play Western Valley at Home Feb 23 for the League Playoffs.
