The special award winners for this Friday’s Yarmouth County Athletic Awards in Tusket are out.
Bryan Hipson is male athlete of the year, and Allie Munroe is female athlete of the year.
Hipson won the 2016 Bluenose Marathon and recently competed in the Ironman World Championships, while Munroe was part of the summer showcase for Team Canada’s Women’s hockey team, and plays with Syracuse in NCAA Division 1 hockey.
Acadia University hockey player Melissa Atkinson is the female youth athlete of the year, and Dennie d’Entremont of Dalhousie is the male youth athlete of the year for Track and Field.
The winners will accept their awards at the ceremony Friday night at 7 at Ecole Secondaire de Par-en-Bas.

Official of the Year: Alderic Boudreau (Volleyball)
