The MLA for Argyle-Barrington says the Liberals have changed their tone when it comes to a promise to address the doctor shortage.
The government said two weeks ago that every Nova Scotian will have their own primary care provider within two to three years.
Chris d’Entremont says that’s a different message than they gave during the campaign in 2013 promising a doctor for every Nova Scotian.
“They’re trying to get away from that broken promise. We have an immediate problem where there’s thousand of Nova Scotians that don’t have a doctor today that still need that kind of primary care physician. We need a government that’s going to stand up and actually tell us how that’s going to be done.”
Last Wednesday, Doctors Nova Scotia presented two position papers including actions aimed at improving primary care access for Nova Scotians.
The group said every Nova Scotian should be able to access a primary health care team that includes a family physician which fits with the Liberals health team approach.
