The MLA for Argyle-Barrington says the government needs to stop touting its 10-year plan to address the shortage of doctors and get people
the help they need now.
Chris d’Entremont says the on-going closures of emergency departments, like the one last week at Digby General, show the Liberals are failing residents in the Tri-Counties.
“The doctor shortage across the province is really starting to affect the day to day operation of the health system. We see it in Digby, Shelburne and Parssboro and other places. It’s a real problem when it comes to the availability of doctors in rural areas. There’s a challenge here that the government doesn’t seem to be accepting.”
He says the government should also review if it’s using the health care workforce efficiently.
