The replacement of a section of sidewalk in Arcadia should be completed by the end of this month.
The Chief Administrative Officer for the Municipality of Yarmouth says the 12-week work plan was about a week late getting started.
Victoria Brooks says the sidewalk replacement was approved as part of the 2018-19 capital budget for the municipality.
She tells CJLS News that an assessment indicated it had gone beyond the end of its useful life.
“We did some risk assessment around that. There were trip hazards as well as failures in the curb which were causing problems with Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal.”
TIR had raised concerns about the curb failures causing damage to plows and also poor storm drainage.
There were also trip hazards identified.
The section, on the east side, being replaced is over 20 years old.
