The mayor of Yarmouth says she was pleased to sit down with her fellow municipal leaders yesterday in Lunenburg and have the attention of the federal government.
The mayor and wardens met with Marc Miller the Parliamentary Secretary for Infrastructure and Communities Minister Amarjeet Sohi.
Pam Mood says she and her colleagues discussed the various avenues that municipal units can tap in to for infrastructure project funding.
She says the results are evident right now in downtown Yarmouth.
“There’s the Build Canada Fund, the gas tax, things like that. They have gone through Phase 1. You can see that Main Street is getting paved as part of the sewer separation project, that was a part of Phase 1. Phase 2 is coming, for applications, around about March of next year.”
Mood says there’s $180 billion dollars being made available for Canadian municipalities.
