The second annual WE CARE Radiothon raised $100,000 today.
The number surpassed the $92,000 total from the first event at Yarmouth Regional Hospital last year.

Once again, our staff joined the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation in a live 10 hour broadcast.
The goal was $50,000 for a new portable ultrasound and radiant infant warmer.
Again, the people of the Tri-Counties went above and beyond.
Foundation Marketing Committee Chair Jeff Little says the number is phenominal.
“We had it in the back of our mind, wouldn’t it be nice. But wow, $100,000! The support from this community is unbelievable and we can’t thank them enough.”
Little says the two pieces of equipment in total cost about $80,000.
He says the rest of the funds will go to the areas of greatest need.
One of the most emotional moments of the day came over the noon hour.
Andrew and Jennie Huskilson of Shelburne County stopped by our booth and donated a combined $10,000.
They are the parents of Carmen Huskilson, who passed away two years ago at the age of five.
Jennie Huskilson says they were able to make the donation because of money donated from the Live Well Challenge.
“From memorial donations that were made in Carmen’s memory. This isn’t our donation, it’s your donation going back into the community and trying to help as many people as we can.”
She says $7,000 comes from the Carmen Faith Fund, in honour of what would have been Carmen’s seventh birthday this year.
The other $3,000 came from all H.M Huskilson’s Funeral Home locations in the area.
