Royal Canadian Legion members are looking for volunteers.
The annual poppy campaign is on in the leadup to Remembrance Day.
Brenda Hattie with the Yarmouth legion Branch 61 says they need people to go out with poppy boxes to local businesses.
“There’s only maybe six of us, but we could use four or five more. If you come to the legion every morning at 10 o’clock, you’ll be given a box of poppies to go out to the stores with,” says Hattie.
The poppy campaign is the legion’s biggest fundraiser.
The Wedgeport legion’s Andre Boudreau says all the money goes to help veterans who are in need.
“It’s so important for all the legions, as the money is only approved for veterans and their needs, it’s not used by the legion at all,” said Boudreau.
He’s hoping to see more volunteers helping the Yarmouth branch.
Two Remembrance services are happening in town on November 11, one at the Cenotaph, the other at Mariners Centre.
There will be a Remembrance Day service at the former St. Michael’s Church in Wedgeport, followed by a reception at the legion.
