A local organization wants to promote the ‘rail trail’ as a tourism destination.
The Western Regional Enterprise Network has a survey out, asking the community about what they’d like to see on the 200-plus kilometres of trail.
It’s called the ‘Get Side-Tracked project,’ and coordinator Brenda LaGrandeur says they want people using the trail to know what’s off of it.
“That will include signage, potential rest stop areas that have indications of where they are and what’s coming up on the trail, and ideas for things to do,” said LaGrandeur.
She says the WREN is hiring a business program coordinator as well.
“It’s an economic driver for our region. It’s another way that people can make their way through our communities, and spend money here.”
