A new urgent treatment centre is open at Yarmouth Regional Hospital.
It’s for those who need treatment of non-life threatening issues.
Alison Kendrick is the health services manager for the emergency department, and says it will deliver convenient care.
“The callers will be assessed by a registered nurse over the phone to ensure their care needs can be addressed at the clinic. The UTC will provide quicker access to quality care, reducing long waits in the emergency department,” said Kendrick
There are now seven urgent treatment centres in the province.
Kendrick says Yarmouth’s is open Monday to Friday from 9-5 on the main floor.
