Fire at a large compost pile in Yarmouth.
It happened at the Yarmouth County Solid Waste Park on Hardscratch Road.
Yarmouth fire chief Mike Deveau says it came in around 7:30 this morning.
“Staff responded with an engine, we brought in manpower and tankers. Right now we have machines digging at it, trying to get at the scene of the fire,” said Deveau.
He says firefighters could be on scene most of the day.
Mutual aid was called in from Port Maitland and the Lakes and District departments.
The C&D facility on site has been closed until further notice because of the fire.
