It’s the 20th anniversary of a major festival in southwest Nova Scotia.
The Wharf Rat Rally will see thousands of motorcycles line Water Street in Digby over Labour Day weekend.
Digby Mayor Ben Cleveland says the event has been tremendous over the years.
“20 years ago, there were 750 bikes, and they asked for a small street to be closed. Now we’ve expanded to having multiple streets blocked, and shuttles to transport people,” said Mayor Cleveland.
Lots of events and music are planned this year, and for the first time ever, a drone light show is taking place.
Mayor Cleveland says it’s helped the entire region economically, all the way to Yarmouth and the Valley.
“Stores bring in extra staff and the restaurants. It’s been great for not only the town, but the entire province.”
Up to 25,000 people are expected to take part.
Mayor Cleveland encourages people to take their time and enjoy the festivities.
The Wharf Rat Rally runs from Thursday to Sunday.
