A gold medal on the track at Day 14 of the Paris Olympics.
The men’s 4-by-100 metre relay team, led by Andre De Grasse took first place this afternoon.
It’s De Grasse’s seventh Olympic medal, tying him with Penny Oleksiak as the top Canadian Olympian.
Nova Scotia’s Sloan MacKenzie and Katie Vincent of Ontario got bronze in the 500-metre final in women’s canoe doubles.
Another Nova Scotian, Sarah Mitton, is out of the women’s shotput final, as she fouled her final attempt in wet, slippery conditions on the field.
She came in as the top ranked competitor.
Team Canada’s Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson captured silver in beach volleyball.
They fell in three sets to top-ranked Ana Patrícia Silva Ramos and Eduarda “Duda” Santos Lisboa of Brazil in Friday’s gold medal match.
A historic win, this is Canada’s first medal in women’s beach volleyball at the Olympics and our second ever in the sport.
Canada has 24 medals, including seven gold.
