A Halifax-area man won the Nova Scotia Marathon.
Matthew Beaver prevailed through a windy course in Barrington and Cape Sable Island with a time of just over two hours and 54 minutes.
He says it’s his first Nova Scotia Marathon.
“Hopefully I’ll quality for the Boston Marathon, so that would be next for me. It was a great course, and all the volunteers were great,” said Beaver.
Natasha Yaremczek of Florida was the top female runner at just under two hours and 59 minutes.
She says it was her first time in the area.
“It was beautiful, and I’m so thankful to be able to travel here and participate, I have my Mom and my daughter with me, it was great.”
The race was a complete sell-out for the first time in its 53-year history.
