It’s a first for the Nova Scotia Marathon.
This weekend’s event in Shelburne County is a complete sell-out
Organizer Rick Allwright says their hard work has paid off.
“It is one of the last races before the cut-off for the Boston Marathon. A lot of people try to qualify right here at the Nova Scotia Marathon in Barrington,” said Allwright.
Over 600 runners will run through Barrington and Cape Sable Island over several distances.
The race takes place on Sunday.
Allwright says hotels are full in Shelburne County and beyond.
“It’s a great thing for the area, things are booked up in Barrington, through Shelburne and even Liverpool, and all the way down to Yarmouth. There’s a good economic impact, for sure.”
He adds the Cape Sable Island Causeway will be down to one lane during the race.
