More healthcare workers are now practicing in Shelburne County.
The province says six professionals have joined the family practice team over the last year.
Three new family doctors are among the new recruits.
Health Services Manager in Primary Health Care for Nova Scotia Health Melanie Mooney says it means more access for those outside the Town of Shelburne.
“We have a registered nurse working in Barrington, which we didn’t have before. It’s a new position to provide better access and a broader scope of services for people in the Barrington area,” said Mooney.
She says they’ve also expanded their services to Clark’s Harbour and Lockeport, cutting down on travel time for patients.
Mooney says the team has been busy as more appointments become available.
“We’re happy to be able to offer these services from more healthcare providers, and I think it’s just going to continue to grow.”
