It’s an exciting time for athletes in Yarmouth County.
A new track is ready behind Par-en-Bas school in Tusket.
The synthetic, state-of-the-art track cost $2.6 million, with the province funding $2 million and three local municipal units paying the rest.
Argyle Warden Danny Muise says it shows how important recreation is.
“It’s central to many communities in Yarmouth and Shelburne counties who are passionate about track. Our new regional home for competitions, and we couldn’t be happier about it,” said Warden Muise.
The track will be ready for public use on Monday.
Muise says he’s hoping it leads to more track meets.
“It’s important for the schools, and meets that will happen. We expect provincial competitions to happen because of the size, and the state-of-the-art track that we have now.”
