The Yarmouth Mariners are ready for the MHL Draft in Truro.
It goes Saturday, and the team will be picking third overall.
Head Coach and General Manager Laurie Barron says they’ll go for the best player available.
“The thing with our draft is, you never really know. Players are always looking to play in the Quebec league. It’s an educated guess, but the biggest thing is taking good kids,” said Barron.
Yarmouth already picked up local goaltender Noah Muise with a territorial selection.
They also got forward Jerome Gilbert back in a trade.
Barron was asked what area he’d like to focus on in the draft.
“If there’s one thing, maybe we want to get a little bit bigger. That’s in a perfect world.”
The Mariners were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by Summerside.
Barron says they have a very deep 50 man roster, and lots of interest heading into training camp this August.
