There’s a new president and vice-chancellor of Universite Sainte-Anne.
Dr. Kenneth Deveau takes over the role from Allister Surette.
He’s been a teacher and involved in programs at Sainte-Anne for 20 years, and was named vice-president in 2011.
Deveau says Surette has left the university in good financial shape.
“Through careful management and strategic growth. We have to stay on that path. We have to remain vigilant, there are always challenges. The cost of living is one, it affects us all,” said Deveau.
He says a recent moratorium on international students could create some issues, as they are a big part of the university culturally and financially.
Deveau adds they’ve been committed to engaging the community.
“Not only in the Acadian community, but more generally in Nova Scotia to help us grow as a province through our students and our initiatives.”
Deveau’s term is for five-years.
The university says Deveau is recognized across Canada as a passionate and committed Francophone leader.
