The Yarmouth Mariners are the 2022/2023 MHL Cup champions.
They beat the Edmundston Blizzard 5-1 in Game 4 to sweep them four straight, and go 12-0 in the MHL playoffs, the first team ever to accomplish that feat.
Franco Canevari scored twice, Reilly Mayne, Ryan Semple and Michael Marquez also scored, after the Mariners gave up the first goal of the game.
Joey Lovullo got the win in goal with 44 saves, he was named MHL playoff MVP.
The Mariners now move on to the Centennial Cup in Manitoba next month.
They’ll arrive back in Yarmouth sometime this weekend to celebrate with the fans in person.
The Mariners Centre held a viewing party, and over 400 fans watched on the big screen as their team clinched their third ever league championship.
