The Wedgeport Tuna Tournament and Festival is almost here.
Sixteen boats will set sail Tuesday night from the breakwater wharf, in search of the largest tuna to bring back to shore.
Weigh-ins will take place through the week, with the final awards for Biggest Tuna and overall weight to be presented next Saturday.
Meanwhile, there’s lots of events on shore.
Special Events Coordinator Baylee Surette says it all starts this Saturday.
“The Wedgeport Community Yard Sale is Saturday, then the Tuna Fun Run goes on Sunday. We have events for the kids, and of course Tuesday night is the Captain’s send-off,” says Surette.
Board member Callie Doucette goes over the prizes.
“There’s the overall biggest tuna, overall weight, and the biggest tuna caught in the ‘Hell Hole'”, says Doucette.
The Wedgeport Tuna Pageant and Seafood Extravaganza are also back next week.
