One of our area’s most competitive golf events is coming up this weekend.
The 15th annual Rick Boudreau Memorial Golf Tournament will take place at Yarmouth Links on Saturday and Sunday.
It’s an individual event, and some of the best golfers from across the province will take part.
Organizer Derek Boudreau, who puts on the tournament in honour of his father, says it will be a great event.
“I can’t express enough how much this event means to me. I’ve put a lot of time and effort into it over the years, and we have a lot more volunteers this year. It would mean a lot to me to go out and try to win this,” says Boudreau.
He says the competition will be tight.
“We have guys coming from the city and all over, that are really good golfers. Ryan Dixon has won it the last two years, and Aaron Nickerson won the three years before that, they’re both out of the River Hills Golf and Country Club.”
Boudreau says it’s turned into one of the best tournaments in Nova Scotia, with over 75-thousand dollars in prizes to be won.
He’s expecting 120 golfers to be registered over five different divisions.
The draw takes place tonight.
