It’s draft day in the MHL, and the Yarmouth Mariners are ready to go.
Yarmouth won’t pick until the third round of the draft, they own nine picks.
Head Coach and General Manager Laurie Barron says they’ll be focused on players that can help them down the road.
“I think it’s about stocking the cupboards a bit. We don’t need a lot of guys to jump into our lineup this season. We’re looking to take 2005/2006 born players that will be game ready in our league for next season,” says Barron.
The Mariners acquired two new players from Quebec this week, who Barron says will help the team right away.
“With the signings we’ve made and the returning players we have, it’s going to be a very competitive camp. I think everyone should come to camp in great shape, because it’s going to be a battle.”
Tonight’s draft begins at 7.
