The Sherose Island Schooners season is underway.
The reigning Nova Scotia Intermediate Baseball League champions based out of Barrington have three wins and five losses so far.
Manager and defending league MVP Stefan Newell says they have a solid squad again this year.
“We have a lot of young guys and a few veterans. We hope for a good finish, and to keep the interest in the team going down this way,” says Newell.
With no midget team in the area this year, some younger players were able to join the Schooners.
Newell says fan support has been great, and he hopes to see lots of people at their next games on Sunday at home against Windsor.
The Schooners will look to climb the standings, as the first place team gets to host the league championship tournament in August.
