The grand opening of Argyle’s ‘net zero’ energy administration building yesterday in Tusket.
It was a celebration years in the making, as councillors and wardens past and present gathered for a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The building opened last year as the first of its kind in Canada, running off solar energy.
Warden Danny Muise says they worked hard to get this.
“It’s such a pleasure to be in this new facility. It was a long process, we started in 2016, but it began way before that. It only officially started then when we decided, it was time to do this. This celebration means a lot to me, so that people can see what we’ve accomplished here.” says Muise.
Argyle councillors began putting money aside for a new building in 1999.
Former Warden Aldric d’Entremont was part of the ceremony, and says he’s proud of how the building came together.
“It’s hard to express the words to say how proud I am. I was on the first council when we started the process. We had to put money aside for a building that we knew we’d need someday,” says d’Entremont.
Muise says the former office at the Tusket courthouse was no longer meeting the needs of residents.
