After winning the Nova Scotia Regional Junior Hockey League championship, the Southwest Storm have their eyes on a bigger prize.
This week in East Hants, they’ll represent the province in the Maritime Hockey North Junior Championship tournament.
Head Coach and GM Andrew Holland says they’re ready for some strong competition.
“We’re expecting the PEI and New Brunswick teams to be very strong. They only have one junior league in those provinces, and all the Junior B and C teams play in it together,” says Holland.
The Storm are made up of players from the Tri-Counties, and their first test will be against New Brunswick tomorrow at 4:30 p.m.
Holland says the fan support and excitement in Barrington and surrounding areas has been great.
“The fans came from everywhere, and drove to Liverpool to watch the finals. We’re very excited and appreciate all the people who support us.”
He says it’s nice to see in the teams’ inaugural season, after the former Ice Dogs folded in 2015.
