A very special hockey game tonight in Barrington.
The Southwest Storm Junior C club will take on alumni from the community’s former team, the Barrington Ice Dogs at 7:30 at the Sandy Wickens Memorial Arena.
It’s being billed as the ‘Jevon Link Memorial Battle in the Bay.’
Funds are going to the ‘Let Your Light Shine Jevon Link Society,’ supporting mental health initiatives.
Storm Head Coach Andrew Holland says it’s a tribute to Link, who lost his battle with mental illness last summer.
“We decided to ask some of his former teammates that played Bantam A and Junior C with him to play, and they’re going to go up against our Southwest Storm team,” says Holland.
There will also be an intermission game featuring U11 Shelburne Flames minor hockey players.
Holland says admission is a donation at the door.
“I know some of the local minor hockey teams have already raised some money, and they’ll be presenting cheques tonight. We can’t thank them enough.”
