Nova Scotia Regional Junior Hockey League:
The Southwest Storm beat East Hants 2-1 on Saturday in Nova Scotia Regional Junior Hockey League action. Tylan Foster and Zach Darcy had the goals.
Minor Hockey:
The Western Riptide U18 female team won both playoff games over the weekend. They beat Metro Force Explosion 4-3, with Karlie MacDonald scoring a hat trick. Renee Melanson also scored. Assists by Mercedes Melanson, Tierney Schiefer, Maddison Perry, and France Boudreau. They defeated the Metro Force Royals 5-3 on Sunday. Issabelle D’Entremont scored two goals, Arianna Morrison, Josie Lynch and Tierney Schiefer also scored. Assists by Josie Lynch, Karlie MacDonald, Tierney Schiefer, Renee Melanson and Sophie Hatt.
The U13 Western Riptide team defeated Cape Breton 7-3 in a playoff game. Camryn Vacon and Danica Deveau each scored twice. Brooke Boudreau, Eva McAlpine and Shaylie Smith also scored. Assists by Cloe Comeau, Camryn Vacon, and Yasmine Hideib. On Sunday, they defeated Cape Breton in an exhibition game 8-1. Cloe Comeau, Shaylie Smith, and Gwen Longmire each scored twice. Ellie Tunnicliff also scored. Assists by Danica Deveau, Cloe Comeau, Brooke Boudreau, Camryn Vacon, Abby Smith and Sydney Reddick.
The U11 team lost their first playoff game 5-4 against the QC Whitecaps. Daniella Kim got a hat trick and Aimee Meuse also scored. On Sunday, they defeated Fundy 7-2 in their second playoff game. Aimee Meuse scored four goals. Emma Ellis scored twice. Daniella Kim also scored. Assists by Daniella Kim, Reece d’Entremont, Aimee Meuse, Mika Doucette and Denae Hubbard.
The Yarmouth U11A Mariners defeated South Shore 6-3 Saturday in a playoff game. Hayden Acker had two goals and an assist, and Nolan Deon and Connor Barnes each had a goal and an assist. They’ll play Western Valley in the final.
