The province’s Acadian Affairs critic wants government to develop separate charter-compliant legislation.
Liberal Clare MLA Ronnie LeBlanc says he’d like to see it developed with the Conseil Scolaire Acadien Provincial.
LeBlanc says this would empower Acadian communities, while protecting their language and culture in the education system.
“It’s a priority for the Acadian community. I’m asking the government to come to the table with the CSAP and draft that legislation,” says LeBlanc.
He says this is something the Liberal government under Iain Rankin had been working on.
LeBlanc says this is one of the reasons why he put his name forward for MLA, to help support francophone institutions.
He wrote a letter to Acadian Affairs Minister Colton LeBlanc and Education Minister Becky Druhan on the issue.
