Valley High School Hockey League:
The Par-en-Bas Sharks lost to Barrington 5-4 in a shootout on Friday. Dominic Jacquard scored twice for PEB, and Owen Penney had two goals and an assist for the Barons. PEB beat the Digby Mariners 12-1 yesterday.
Clare defeated Barrington 7-4 on Saturday. Miguel de Jesus had a goal and three assists for the Loups, Owen Penney had a goal and two assists for Barrington.
The Loups beat Yarmouth 4-3 on Friday. Logan Comeau scored twice for Clare.
The Vikings beat Digby 4-1 Saturday, with Landon Watkins-Bonnar scoring twice for the Vikings.
In the Girls division, Yarmouth beat West Kings twice, 8-6 and 4-2. Renee Olsen had five goals and two assists in Friday’s game to lead the Vikings and scored twice again on Saturday. Mercedes Melanson and Madison Cushing also scored.
Minor Hockey:
In Minor Hockey, the Wade’s Wire Traps U15 AA Mariners fell 4-2 to Pictou in their first playoff game. Callum Longmire and Marcel Jacquard scored, with Colby d’Eon and Sawyer Kristensen getting assists. Adam Bowie was in net.
Western Riptide: U18 team lost 9-1 to Metro Saturday with Josie Lynch scoring, and 2-1 to Metro East on Sunday. Josie Lynch scored with assists from Isabelle Doucette and Tierney Schiefer.
The U13 team fell 2-1 to Metro Inferno on Saturday and defeated Metro Cyclone 6-1 in their second game. Eva MacAlpine scored the only goal in the first game. She scored in the second game, along with Brooke Boudreau, Cloe Comeau, Camryn Vacon, Shaylie Smith and Sydney Reddick. Assists went to Yasmine Hideid, Camryn Vacon, Gwen Longmire, Brooke Boudreau and Eva MacAlpine.
The U11 team lost 4-3 to Metro Force Huskies on Saturday. Leah Smith, Denae Hubbard and Daniella Kim each scored, with assists to Isabelle Neil, Madison Theriault and Emma Ellis.
Gentlemen’s League:
Heritage Brewery Chickenhawks beat Rhyno’s Towing 9-4. Mark Rogers had a hat-trick for Heritage, and Andrew McKenzie led the way for Rhyno’s.
Woods Harbour Whalers beat the Pubnico Predators 4-1 in Barrington. Brett Sears was the leader for Woods Harbour and Miguel d’Eon for Pubnico. Tyler Brannen was in net for the win.
