Curling has resumed in Yarmouth.
As restrictions on games and gathering limits lifted Monday, the curling club on Forbes Street were able to resume operations.
They began in November, but as the Omicron wave hit Nova Scotia, they were forced to shutdown for two months.
Vice President of the curling association Aaron Sweeney says it will be a shortened season, as they are normally finished around the first of April.
“We’re looking at adding a few extra nights and doubling up on some leagues. The stick league will play on Wednesday nights and Sunday afternoons, for example. We want to make up for lost time,” says Sweeney.
He says with tournaments still not allowed, getting back to play is the first step.
“We are only allowed to play in our house leagues. We’re not sure if that’s going to change in a few weeks or not, so for now we’re just getting back on the ice and we’ll wait to see if that changes.
Sweeney says there is room for new curlers in the afternoon and in junior curling on Thursday nights.
