A new way to enjoy skating in the Municipality of Clare.
A brand new outdoor rink has been installed next to the Clare Veterans Centre in Saulnierville, which features a system of interlocking synthetic ice panels.
That means you’ll be able to skate year round.
Amy Paradis, communications officer with the Municipality of Clare says they split project funding with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s Welcoming Francophone Communities program.
“It is an ongoing project. We’re looking into putting up a cabin where you can change into your skates, and perhaps adding a public toilet as well. It’s infrastructure that will be added on as time goes on,” says Paradis.
She says there is nothing more Canadian than skating with friends, and she’s hopeful families who have immigrated to the area will be able to enjoy the experience without having to adjust to our winter climate.
“If COVID-19 has taught us anything, it’s that our public spaces are invaluable. Places that we can go outside to help our physical and mental health.”
Paradis says they’ve also acquired hockey gear, and will be installing nets for use at certain times at the facility.
