Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for Yarmouth and Shelburne counties.
The forecaster says significant rain is expected from noon today until tomorrow morning.
They say 25-45 millimetres of rain could fall, and warnings could need to be issued later today.
Rainfall warnings are already in effect for the Eastern Shore and southern Cape Breton.
