As rain and wind rip through Nova Scotia, thoughts are turning to the potential power outages they could bring.
Nova Scotia Power is monitoring the weather, trying to predict where outages might be.
Their Storm Lead for this weather event, Sean Borden, discussed where the highest winds are expected.
“The wind speeds with this storm are anticipated to be above warning levels right across the province but the areas with the highest winds forecasted at this point are along the Eastern Shore and Cape Breton.”
Borden says there are 135 crews positioned around the province, ready to respond.
A central command center will monitor the storm and adjust plans as they need to.
Borden shared a message for their customers.
“Stay safe during this storm. There’s going to be a considerable amount of rain and wind so travel will be challenging during the (weather) event,” says Borden. “If they could stay home that would be great.”
A power outage map and safety tips are available on the NS Power website.
