The Town of Yarmouth has introduced a mandatory vaccine policy for its workers.
It applies to Councillors, employees, contractors, students, volunteers and anyone providing services in municipal buildings.
The policy was passed at last night’s council meeting.
Mayor Pam Mood says health and safety is their number one priority.
“Full vaccination is effective in reducing severe symptoms of COVID-19. Anyone not currently working for the town, but are planning to apply, will have to be fully vaccinated,” says Mood.
Those needing full vaccination will have to have it completed by January 14th, or they’ll be placed on unpaid leave.
Employees who don’t comply could face dismissal.
