Still one more sport to wrap up the 2021 Nova Scotia 55 + Games in Yarmouth.
Now that the ice is in at the Yarmouth Curling Club, curlers from across the province have arrived for the event this weekend.
One of the organizers Rick Allwright says there are about 30 teams taking part.
“There will be about 100 people here this weekend to play in curling, stick curling, men’s and women’s and mixed. It will be a jam-packed weekend here at the Yarmouth Curling Club,” says Allwright.
He says this is the curling club’s first weekend of action, and it’s great to start off with a big event.
He says it’s a great culmination to the games, which drew over 700 people to Yarmouth in September.
“We knew we had interest from about 400 people based on pre-registration data. To have 700 participants, it was beyond any expectations that we had.”
The curling action is already underway, it will take place through to Sunday afternoon.
