Another split of weekend home games for the Yarmouth Mariners.
They followed up Thursday’s win in Pictou with a 3-2 victory over the Ramblers Friday.
Sam Gillis, Kurtis Lang and Jonathan Park had the goals, and Christophe Beluse made 33 saves.
Head Coach and GM Laurie Barron says it was a great game.
“It was a playoff atmosphere, and I thought we found a way. We played a gritty second period. We gave up a powerplay goal and let them get back in it, but we didn’t give up much after that,” says Barron.
Barron says the Mariners ran out of gas on Saturday, losing to the league-leading Capitals 5-2.
“Bit of a disappointing outing Saturday night. We looked like a team that just played three games in three days, and we had to play with just five defensemen. No excuses, teams have to play three-in-three all the time, but that was a tough one.”
Beluse gave up five goals on 17 shots before being replaced by AJ DiChiara. Mitchell Wagner and Reid Vos had the goals for Yarmouth.
Barron says it won’t get easier this weekend, as the team heads to New Brunswick for games against the Rapids and Blizzard.
