A new housing complex for doctors and medical professionals will be ready next month in Yarmouth.
The Yarmouth and Area Chamber of Commerce, along with Coastal Financial Credit Union have collaborated to bring a five-unit apartment building to Vancouver Street, near the Yarmouth Regional Hospital.
Rebecca Cassidy is the community navigator for the Yarmouth Region Medical Professional Recruitment Partnership.
She says there will be different types of units in the building.
“Having those different types of housing options available for various levels of medical learners, it helps us level the playing field, even though we are so far from Halifax,” says Cassidy.
Cassidy says this will especially help medical students, who will be able to stay at the building at a low cost, and be able to see all the community has to offer.
Coastal Financial Credit Union purchased the building, and the Chamber will lease it.
