The ‘Alertable’ app has arrived in Yarmouth County.
Yarmouth’s Regional Emergency Management Organization launched the emergency notification system yesterday.
This means residents of the Town and Municipality of Yarmouth, and the Municipality of Argyle can now receive instant notifications for emergencies from Yarmouth County REMO before, during and after an event has occurred.
REMO Coordinator Janine Muise says it’s a game changer.
“For example, if there was a forest fire and we needed to put an alert out for evacuation, we could do so. It’s very easy to sign up, and we’ve put a lot of information out there for the public,” says Muise.
Muise says the notifications are easy to hear, and can be received through the app, text, email, phone and even your home smart speaker.
She says this will keep residents informed.
“Climate change is affecting us, and we felt it was important to have an alerting system in place to let residents know when something may be coming up the coast, or if there are other emergencies.”
It’s free to sign up, visit remoyarmouthcounty.com for more information.
