The head of the Tri-County Regional Centre for Education is wishing students good luck as they head back to classes today.
Dr. Chris Boulter, the Regional Executive Director of Education says sports and full community use of schools will return this year.
“To have parents, guardians, students and community members be able to watch school sports and participate in school activities, all those things we missed during the pandemic, we’re really excited about that,” says Dr. Boulter.
Dr. Boulter says masks will be worn until Phase five of the province’s re-opening plan takes place, and schools will continue to be cleaned and sanitized thoroughly.
“Students in all grade levels will be required to wear masks when social distancing is not possible. The advantage we have this fall is that this was our procedure at the end of the last school year in June.”
He says the number of COVID cases will be monitored, and they’ll adapt to changing epidemiology if needed.
