The Municipality of Clare must soon choose a new Warden.
Ronnie LeBlanc won the riding of Clare for the Liberals in last week’s provincial election, and handed in his resignation as Warden and councillor after 20 years at the table.
Pam Doucet, Clare’s Returning Officer, says a special election will be held to fill the vacant seat for District 7 this fall.
“Council will set a date for the special election. I’ll be presenting to council at their Committee of the Whole meeting on September 1st with some recommendations. They will set the date at their September 15th meeting,” says Doucet.
A new warden will be chosen once the new councillor is elected.
The eight councillors will vote at their first meeting on who should fill the spot, which LeBlanc held for nine years.
