The Yarmouth Shark Scramble returned to the waterfront over the weekend.
14 vessels and 115 participants went out into the water, to compete to see who could catch the largest blue shark.
Organizer Bob Gavel says the 23rd overall event came together last minute because of COVID-19, but he heard positive comments from those who came to watch the weigh-ins on Saturday.
“It was very surprising how many people came out to watch. We followed protocols with distancing and masks, but a lot of people said it’s finally starting to feel normal again,” said Gavel.
He says a life-sized replica of the Canadian record shortfin Mako shark that was landed in 2004 will soon be put on display at the waterfront.
Gavel thanks all the sponsors and the committee for their hard work.
