Seafest starts today in Yarmouth.
An official opening is planned for this afternoon at 5:30 at Killam Brothers Wharf.
There will be speeches from local dignitaries and a concert featuring the Yarmouth Shantymen and Hourglass.
Seafest President Darryl LeBlanc says with the province entering Phase Four of re-opening, they are able to host this event.
“We ask everybody that does come down to social distance, and if you can’t do that, please wear a mask. We will have hand sanitizer on site. Let’s keep everybody as safe as possible,” said LeBlanc.
The festival runs until July 31st, with a mix of in-person and virtual events.
A Classic Car Cruise will take place down Main Street and Starrs Road on Saturday, beginning at 6 p.m.
LeBlanc says you’re encouraged to watch from your vehicle, and if you have to be on the sidewalk, please stay socially distanced.
