Good Morning !
Today is Friday and the 161st Day of 2021.
I live in a coastal Town , that means Seagulls and their droppings !
Keeping my car free of a seagulls signature can be a daunting task during nesting season ” like now ”
Anyone who lives close to a Fish Plant or Wharf knows what this means for your Vehicle .
If you allow the droppings to sit for too long, bird droppings have the ability to slowly eat the clear coat of your paint, and if exposed to heat and plenty of direct sun /or UV rays, it can create semi-permanent etching that is hard and costly to remove.
WD-40 to clean seagull droppings ? . According to WD-40, its magic-in-a-can spray has 259 automotive uses – and cleaning off dry bird poop from car paint is one of them. To remove bird droppings from your vehicle, spritz a little WD-40 on the area, let it sit for 60 seconds, then rinse or wipe away with a clean, soft cloth.
Club Soda/Seltzer Water works too Click HERE for more info.
How Often Do We Need To Wash Our Vehicles ?
As a general rule of thumb, it’s important to wash your car at least every 2 weeks. If you live on a dusty dirt road or close to a wharf / fish plant you will be washing it more often . keep in mind , stuff like Bird Droppings , road salt and bug guts require immediate attention to prevent paint or metal damage.
