John Cunningham stepped down as chair of the Mariners Centre Expansion Steering Committee on Tuesday.
The Warden of the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth says he made the decision after the town and Argyle voiced their frustrations over a recent survey done by MODY on the project.
“In order to not create bad feelings, or impede the process, I decided it was the best move to step down. I still will be part of making sure the bridge is moving forward and the Mariners Centre expansion project is moving forward as quickly as possible.”
The survey encompassed all of Yarmouth County without the consent of the town or Argyle.
Cunningham will remain a member of the committee, Argyle councillor Nicole Albright was named the new chair.
When asked if he has regrets on issuing the survey, Cunningham says hindsight is 20/20, and in the future the municipality will engage their partners.
