Waste Check are reminding citizens that organized group litter cleanups are paused during the provincial lockdown.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t continue to help keep your community clean.
Waste Reduction Coordinator Amy Hillyard says you’re encouraged to take a walk and bring a bag with you.
“Whether a trail or in their own neighbourhood. They can put those bags with their regular garbage. They can certainly continue to help us out with picking up litter.”
She says they were trending well with numbers for organized group litter cleanups before the third wave hit.
Hillyard says they had 30 groups just in month of April involved, and registration for the Great Nova Scotia Pick Me Up will be open again once restrictions are lifted.
She says they’re thankful for dedicated residents that take part in litter pick ups in their communities.
