The Yarmouth Mariners have clinched first place in the Eastlink South Division Playoff Round-Robin.
They defeated the Summerside Western Capitals 2-1 last night on the road to improve to 4-0.
Sam Gillis and Kurtis Lang scored second period goals, and Justin Sumarah made 22 saves.
Sumarah was also named the MHL Goaltender of the Year yesterday, posting a league best goals-against average, save percentage and win total. He also led the MHL in shutouts with five.
The Mariners will receive a bye in the first round of the playoffs.
Their next round robin game is tomorrow night at home against the Truro Bearcats.
They’ll take on the Amherst Ramblers on Monday night, also at Mariners Centre.
