Those coming to Yarmouth Regional Hospital will notice some repairs taking place at the front of the building.
Today and tomorrow, work is being done to improve the safety of sidewalks and curbs near the main entrance.
Fraser Mooney with the Nova Scotia Health Authority says safety is the number one priority.
“While it hasn’t been a hard winter, there have been periods of freezing and thawing that would damage the concrete and the asphalt of the sidewalks and curbs, so we want to make sure it’s as safe as possible for everyone coming.”
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, only the front main entrance has been used for patients and visitors entering the hospital.
Mooney says drivers who are dropping-off patients during the work will be re-directed away from the covered canopy area directly in front of the main entrance, barriers will be in place.
Patient drop-off will take place near the handicap parking area at the front entrance.
