A big donation to a Yarmouth school’s breakfast program.
The Yarmouth Professional Firefighters Association Local 2094 presented Meadowfields School with a cheque for over $18,000 this morning.
The money is from proceeds of the very successful Nova Scotia Firefighters Weekly 50/50.
Local President Lynn Seeley says community support of the draw has been fantastic.
“I think we’ve ranked between one and five in the province as far as our weekly total in sales. We’ve done extremely well.”
Meadowfields Vice-Principal Kevin Gobien says the donation will be far-reaching, and will help relieve stress for families of their 400 students.
“It will take that pressure off of families who might worry where breakfast, lunch and snacks will come from. Now we can help even more, no questions asked.”
The next donation from the local firefighters will go to Aidaen’s Place on Main Street.
